Dr. John Joseph Anderson DPM, FACFAS*Doctor Anderson is a native of the Southwest; born in Tucson, Arizona. 
He was raised in Flagstaff, Arizona. He received his Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University. He received his Medical School training in Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated at the top of his class. While in Medical School he had the opportunity to extern at some of the top surgical training programs in the country including: Mt. Sinai & Cleveland Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Botsford Hospital and Detroit Medical Center, and other renowned programs in Atlanta, Seattle, St. Louis and Louisville. Dr. Anderson was accepted to one of the top surgical programs in the country: Scripps –Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center in San Diego, California. While in San Diego, Dr. Anderson received many research awards and learned new surgical techniques in foot and ankle surgery. In San Diego he served as Chief Resident and lectured throughout the country on advanced reconstructive surgery. Following his years in San Diego, Dr. Anderson was accepted for advanced training in Northern California at the Sacramento- Kaiser Surgery Program. There he received additional training in reconstructive foot, ankle and leg surgery. In 2002 Dr. Anderson became board qualified in Foot Surgery and Rearfoot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery. He was then elected as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. In 2005 Dr. Anderson became the only surgeon in Southern New Mexico to be Board Certified in Foot , Rear Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and a member of New Mexico Podiatric Medical Society. Doctor Anderson has practiced in Alamogordo since 2002, when he joined Alamogordo/ Ruidoso Orthopaedics. He has served as the Vice Chief and the Chief of Surgery at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. He sits on the committee to grant other physicians privileges to the hospital and is the Chair of the Ethics Committee. He serves as the Medical Director of Southern New Mexico Surgery Center and is the President of the American Foundation of Lower Extremity Surgery & Research. He is also a surgical textbook author and serves on the editorial board for medical journals as an expert in his field. Dr. Anderson continues to be active in the community in his church and with the Boy Scouts of America. When he is not working or doing research he spends time with his high school sweetheart and 5 children.
